Furthur Hits the South!

Furthur comes to our neck of the woods next week, with shows in Atlanta, Orlando, and Boca Raton. I know there are still tickets available online for the Orlando show at the UCF Arena.

The show they put on last year in Orlando (at the Hard Rock Live in Epcot, of all places) was one to remember. It wasn't some oldies Dead show. This was a chance for Grateful Dead  players still at the top of their game to strut their stuff with some fine younger additions and take us along for the long strange trip. Phil Lesh anbsolutely KILLED it with his hellaciously jazzy-jammy bass lines.

Some people I know make fun of Deadheads for being grandparents and great grandparents by now. Well screw that noise. How beautiful to see all those ages mixed together at the show, grooving together to some very tasty tunes. To build a community in the 1960s and have it stil vibrant in the 2000s, well, that's a prodigious feat, and one to celebrate.

festgrrl will be celebrating at the Furthur show (with floor seats!) Sunday night at Atlanta's Fox Theater, oh yeah!

Good News for Wanee

Ticket sales for Wanee, this weekend at Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Fl., are up 50 percent over last year, says this story in the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. Great for the promoters!

My advice is make sure you've got what you need when you get there because going in and out will be a royal pain. There is plenty of room at the park for primitive camping, but the later you get there the more you'll have to hike. Still, weather's gonna be fine and the music ---- the music, wow --- stellar!

Furthur Tickets on Sale Friday for Florida and Atlanta Shows

Friday at 10 am, tickets go on sale for three shows by Furthur in the Southeast -- Miami (Feb. 5, Bayfront Ampitheatre), Orlando (Feb. 6, Hard Rock Live) and Atlanta (Feb. 8, The Tabernacle). You can get hooked up here

Bob Wier and Ratdog and Moe., Oh My!

A seriously great show is happening at The St. Augustine Ampitheatre Sunday, July 19... Bob Wier and Ratdog and Moe. co-headlining. $33, show starts at 5:30 p.m. All very do-able and welcome in this economy!

You can camp at the nearby Anastasia Island State Park. (At least that's what my little tribe will be doing.)
