Yes!

Back in the day, festgrrl was absolutely bowled over by the British psychedelic/jazz rock band Yes. Their intricate arrangements, catchy hooks, soaring vocals, and obvious mad talent was intoxicating. I was lucky to see their mind-blowing live show 4 times during my teen and young adulthood.

Well, Yes -- at least a reconstituted Yes --  is coming to Florida for three dates in July. Unfortunately, the original kick-ass lead vocalist Jon Anderson is no longer with the band; instead lead vocals are handled by Benoit David, a sound-alike singer from a Canadian Yes tribute band. David took over those duties several years ago when Anderson was ill. (Since recovered, Anderson tours on his own and with former Yes alum Rick Wakeman.)

Yes plays with Procol Harem in Boca Raton's Mizner Park Ampitheater July 27; St. Augustine Ampitheater July 28, St. Pete's Ruth Eckerd Hall (air conditioned and indoors!) July 29. More info on those shows here.

I was at this show -- the stage spun around 360 degrees!

Funkateers Lettuce Have A New Album!

Funkateers extraordinaire Lettuce --who  have put on some booty-shaking, blistering shows at Bear Creek Music and Art Festival in our neck of the woods over the past few years -- have a new album out called FlyIt is a nice piece of funky goodness.

These are some very talented and dedicated masters of the funk. Lettuce was formed in 1992 when all seven players were at a summer program at Boston's prestigious Berklee College of Music. In other words, they've got chops.

Check out the great interview our friends at Jambase did with Lettuce. And go get Fly right now!

You might see this guy there

Weekend passes for this fall's not-to-be-missed funk extravaganza, Bear Creek Music and Art Festival, (Nov. 10-13, 2012) go up TOMORROW, Saturday June 2, from $130 to $150. The price includes primitive camping at Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Fla., if you want water and electric, it's extra. A ticket for music on Thursday night is an extra $40.

You'll save $20 on the weekend pass if you get your tickets   before the price increase. You can also do an E-Z pay on your credit card. See the crazy-good Bear Creek lineup here.

This is festgrrl's most favorite fest ever, and, as you know, she goes to a LOT of fests.
