YES WE DID!

One of the things I love about festivals so much is that we create a kind community where love and laughter and hope and gratitude are the norm. Over the past eight years, this community has become vital to me as a way to escape the meanness coming from our country's leadership. I just couldn't have felt more out of step with the fear and hatred being contantly spewed by the right-wingers. Music festivals, and the people who go to them, have been my safe harbor.

I returned from five days at Magnolia Fest feeling loved and hopeful. And last night's election of Obama and many of my Democratic friends was the clincher for me.

So today, hope. And gratitude. And laughter.
